This article explores the role of metaphors and model forms in the constitution of experience and the creation of religious meaning. Drawing on the theoretical approaches of Jürgen Frese and Wilhelm Schapp, the study examines metaphors as a means of facilitating transfers between domains of experience. Metaphors generate connectabilities and structure meaning through narratives, while model forms discipline this meaning-making by serving as interfaces between the individual and the general. The article demonstrates how metaphors and forms jointly structure the process of meaning-making in religious contexts, illustrated with material and linguistic examples from various religious traditions.
