Publication ethics and quality assurance
As a publisher of scientific publications, the DBM is committed to ensuring fairness, ethics and quality in research. We are aware of this responsibility and expect all those acting and involved in the publication process (authors, reviewers and editors) to follow our principles (see below) and our ethical principles based on the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Acceptance of manuscripts for publication
The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for accepting manuscripts or publication proposals; in the future, an Editorial Committee will be involved in the decision-making process.
Contributions that have already been published or considered for publication elsewhere will not normally be considered for the series "Der Anschnitt, Beiheft". Re-publication is possible, for example, for dissertations that were previously only published on the publication server of the respective university and for which the manuscript was revised on the basis of the recommendations of the doctoral reviewers.
Self-commitment of the authors
Authors who report on research results of original research in the submitted manuscript should have an objective discussion about the significance of the research work. The underlying data should be accurately reported in the manuscript. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate information constitutes unethical behaviour and is unacceptable. Review articles should also include objective, comprehensive and accurate representations of the state of research.
Authors should ensure that their work is all original and that if work and/or words of others have been used, this has been appropriately identified. Individuals who have been involved in the development of a manuscript, but do not appear as authors should be credited. This applies equally to institutions etc. that may have provided financial or other support.
Plagiarism is unethical publishing behaviour and is unacceptable. Plagiarism occurs when substantial parts of existing publications are copied and submitted virtually unchanged, without adding new material and without proper citation of sources, by other "authors". Similarly, all cases of text reuse ("self-plagiarism") before and after publication are rejected (see Text Recycling: Forum discussion topic March 2013 | COPE: Committee on Publication Ethics).
Self-commitment of series and volume editors and reviewers
All submitted manuscripts will be treated confidentially. Any information or ideas that may be gained from the submitted manuscript and associated materials will be treated confidentially and may not be used for personal gain. This applies to all persons involved in the publication process.
Reviews should be conducted objectively; personal criticism of the author is unacceptable. Reviewers should formulate their remarks and comments clearly and support them with arguments so that authors can use them to improve their work.
If the planned publication in "Der Anschnitt, Beiheft" is a dissertation, the university reviews are decisive for the proof of quality. Editors of conference proceedings or anthologies (usually publications of research project results) usually assess the professional quality of the submitted contributions themselves or consult other professional reviewers from other institutions. In certain exceptional cases, however, it is possibly or necessary to select a person from the same institution, as long as the review is carried out carefully, critically and objectively.
In cases of suspected or proven academic misconduct, fraudulent publication or plagiarism, the volume or series editor will take all appropriate measures to clarify the situation and amend the article in question. This shall include the immediate publication of an erratum or, in serious cases, the complete retraction of the work concerned.
